Agenda Items: 

  • Discuss Professional Development Plan to support TSSP
    • Overarching Goal: Utilize the community school model to engage all stakeholders in increasing student content knowledge and language acquisition through high quality learning experiences to improve student learning.
    • Academic Goals:
      • English Language Arts: By May 26, 2023, at least 80 percent of students will meet or exceed expected rates of improvement as measured by Acadience Pathways of Progress.
      • Math: By May 26, 2023, at least 80 percent of students will meet or exceed expected rates of improvement as measured by Acadience Pathways of Progress.
    • School Climate Goals: By May 26, 2023, at least 80 percent of students will be able to identify a developmentally appropriate number of emotions (K – 2, 5 emotions/coping skills identified; 3 – 5, 10 emotions/coping skills identified) and self-regulation strategies to manage their identified emotion. 
    • Action Steps and Summary of Expenditures –
      • Core Instruction Teach (gr. 1-3) – $85,000 out of Title I
        • ELA, Math whole group instruction – Teacher is utilized to decrease class size during core instruction, splitting the grade level into four classrooms rather than three.
      • Kindergarten Classroom Instruction Assistants – $18,000 – out of Title I
        • Three Kindergarten instructional assistants provide instructional and behavioral support throughout the school day in the kindergarten classrooms.
      • Alternative Languages Instructional Assistant – $21,000 out of Title I
      • Skill Based Instructional Assistants – $55,275 out of LandTrust
        • Five Skill based instructional assistants are utilized to provide small group intervention based on student data to address individualized instructional needs during math and reading. 
      • Student Intervention Mentors and MTSS Behavioral Assistants – $19,000 out of TSSA, $22,000 out of Title I
        • Two student intervention mentors and one MTSS behavioral assistant provides student support and intervention to increase student self-regulation skills through one-on-one behavior management, small group support, and attendance/behavior reinforcement.
      • Library Media Books – $12,000 out of TSSA
        • Books purchases will increase access to newer reading material with priority given to increasing access to a well-rounded variety of topics.
      • Student Incentives – $13,000 out of TSSA
        • Items purchases will be used to supply the school store, maintain the book vending machine, and provide student incentives for larger rewards (e.g. student of the month, academic achievements, etc.)
      • Instructional Software – $10,500 from Title I budget
        • Purchase PBIS Rewards for whole school student reward and reinforcement use.
        • Purchase ELA and Math I-Ready software (K – 5) to use as diagnostic assessment, progress monitoring, and instruction.  This purchase supplements cost of students not covered under State grants.
      • Professional Development – $21,000 from Title I Budget
        • Professional development books will be purchased to increase teacher capacity with a particular emphasis on math content knowledge and teaching math.
        • Educators will engage in relevant conferences as a cohort. 
      • Parent Engagement – $16,000 from Title I Budget
        • See student content and language acquisition and engagement plan.
      • Field Trips
        • See student content and language acquisition and engagement plan.
    • Student Content and Language Acquisition and Engagement Plan
      • Grade levels utilize district curriculum and community partner materials to teach the core standards. This includes core aligned presentations through community partnerships.
      • Grade levels attend a school field trip to the location identified as a community partnership.
      • Parents are invited to participate in grade levels STEM Night at Copperview aligned to core standards and in collaboration with community partnership.
      • Stem Night participants are then invited to attend a family event night at the community partnership location funded through the school. 
      • Family Learning Center courses are offered to learn more about:
        • Academic language being taught.
        • Careers in the field identified through community partnership experience.
        • Options for scholarships, how to apply for scholarships.
        • Considerations for middle and high school coursework to support student interest. 
      • Proposed Community Partners and Field Trips for each grade level
