National School Social Work Week

We’re excited to celebrate National School Social Work Week from Monday, March 3 to Friday, March 7, 2025. We are fortunate to have Brigitte Kaninda, our dedicated school social worker, who plays a vital role in supporting our students, staff, and families at Copperview.

What Do School Social Workers Do?School social workers provide essential services that help students overcome challenges and succeed in school. They work closely with students who may be facing social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties, and they collaborate with teachers, families, and community agencies to ensure students receive the support they need.

Why Are They Important?
Students may encounter various challenges, including family issues, mental health concerns, and social difficulties. Our school social worker helps address these challenges by providing counseling, connecting families with resources, and advocating for students’ well-being.
Our school social worker helps us:

  • Support students’ mental health and emotional well-being
  • Foster positive relationships between students and their peers
  • Connect families with community resources and services
  • Promote a safe and inclusive school environment

During this special week, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Brigitte Kaninda for their unwavering commitment to making a positive impact every day at Copperview.

Inspire conversations as a family about safe and positive tech use with Family Tech Planners

Entertainment and tech have the potential to spark meaningful conversations and screen time has become an important issue for families. Examples include how much time I’m spending with technology, how I’m being kind and inclusive online, and making wise choices with the content I choose.

Utilizing family tech planners are a great way to help your kids manage their screen time and come up with a shared understanding with your kids of how your family makes the most out of entertainment and tech time.

To find tech planners for children of all ages, visit https://tinyurl.com/csdtechplanLinks to an external site. Spanish versions of tech plans are also available on this website.

Technology at CopperviewMr. Roderick, uses the “Explain Everything” app to bring learning to life in his 4th grade classroom. This is a great tool for collaborative and interactive learning where students and their teacher can share thoughts and ideas in real time. With this interactive whiteboard, Mr. Roderick can use video, notation, and audio recording to bring his instruction to life.
