Community School Newsletter – September

August Highlights

Congratulations to our August’s Exemplary Cougars! These students consistently followed our school rules of being SAFE, KIND, and RESPONSIBLE. Each month we celebrate one student from each class.

September is Attendance Month!

September is Attendance Awareness Month and we are excited to welcome all our students and families to a new school year filled with opportunities to learn and engage!  Getting into the habit of daily attendance is more important than ever. It helps to:  ●   reduce stress●   make it easier to connect with friends and teachers●   support learning   We are working to make our school environment a place where everyone can be safe, healthy and learning. We will do our best to listen and partner with you so that our children have a successful year. Let’s work together to:

  • Keep Healthy – Make sure students get sleep, eat well and exercise. If you are not certain whether to send your child to school due to illness, call the front office at 801-826-8125 to speak with our school nurse, Casey Munns and to discuss the situation.
  • Keep Connected – Download the ParentSquare App and stay informed of all school information. Don’t forget to join us at one of our gatherings this fall as well.
  • Keep Learning – We miss your student when they are gone and we value their contributions to our school. We would like you to help ensure that your student attends regularly and is successful in school. Do not hesitate to reach out to the school with questions or concerns.

September’s attendance often sets the tone for the entire school year, so we’re challenging our students this month to start strong and make a lasting impact!

Understanding the Difference between ParentSquare & Peachjar

We want to take a moment to clarify the difference between two important communication tools we use at Copperview Elementary: Peachjar and ParentSquare.

PeachjarPeachjar is an online platform that allows businesses and community partners to share information about events, promotions, partnerships, and other non-instruction-related activities with the Canyons School District community. This platform is also used for sharing non-essential school information and details about activities across our feeder systems. It’s important to note that external organizations are charged a fee to use Peachjar, and the funds raised support the Canyons Education Foundation, which helps meet the needs of teachers and students throughout the district.
Peachjar is the place to look for flyers and announcements from external vendors, community events, and non-instructional school-related information.

ParentSquareParentSquare, on the other hand, is a communication tool specifically designed to facilitate communication between our school, teachers, and parents. This platform is used for important school-related updates, classroom announcements, and direct communication between teachers and parents. ParentSquare is where you’ll find messages directly related to your child’s education, school activities, and other essential information.
ParentSquare does not include advertisements, promotions, or community announcements from external vendors—its focus is solely on supporting the connection between our school and families.

We hope this helps clarify the different purposes of Peachjar and ParentSquare. By using these tools effectively, we can ensure that you receive the most relevant and important information to support your child’s education.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support!

Support our Teachers - Donor Choose

We’re thrilled to introduce DonorsChoose, a nonprofit platform that allows you to directly support our teachers by funding classroom projects. Teachers request specific resources like books, technology, and supplies, and your donations help bring these projects to life.

By contributing to DonorsChoose, you’re directly enhancing your child’s education and helping our teachers provide the best learning experiences. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.

Volunteers and Visitors

Be a classroom helper, collect school supplies, or help with a classroom activity or project. Even the most time-pinched parents can find ways to support their neighborhood school. Each year, in accordance with state law, all Canyons District volunteers must submit a Volunteer Application which can be found on the District’s website and completed online by following the prompts. Because it can take up to 72 hours for applications to be processed, it’s recommended that prospective volunteers apply well in advance of their scheduled volunteer shift. School visitors, such as family members attending a school event, are not considered volunteers and are not required to complete an application. Information about the screening requirements for volunteers can be found at volunteer.canyonsdistrict.org. Questions? Please call 801-826-5171.
