General Meeting

Meeting called to order by: Lorrie Judd(Secretary) at 9:00am

New Business
Cafe Zupas Fundraiser Night – We have our next Cafe Zupas Night on Tuesday the 23rd from 4-9pm. Lorrie will take flyers after today’s meeting to Hillcrest High School, Union Middle School, the District Office, the Copperview Community Center and post on the Sandy Residents Facebook page, the Midvale Residence Facebook page and a couple of other Facebook & Instagram Pages.
Fundraiser Ideas – Lorrie has been looking into Raising Canes, Cafe Rio & Papa Murphy’s Pizza. Lorrie talked to the manager, Jet James at the Union Square location and he said they give 15% of the sales and their fundraiser nights are, Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. We would be able to schedule one of those nights and our time would be from 4:00pm-7:30pm. We have to book our night at least 2 weeks out. Lorrie told Jet that she would talk to the PTA and let him know what date we would like. Lorrie also went by Cafe Rio in the Quarry Bend Shopping Center and was given a phone number to contact someone and is awaiting a reply. Culver’s & Chipotle we’re also suggested to look into.
Nominating Committee Needed – A committee is needed to help acquire a New PTA President, Treasurer & Secretary for the 2024-2025 school year. The Nominating Committee has two primary responsibilities: To select a slate of candidates to present for membership vote, and, To prepare questions to which candidates respond in statements included in the election material. The name of Monica Rubio was mentioned and was said that she would make a fine PTA President. Candace Troyer said she would be on the committee.
Literacy Week Event – this will be on Friday March 8th in the morning around 8:00am. It is planned to have donuts and free books set out for the students to take home. Depending on the amount of books we have will decide on the limit of books each child can take. Jenna said she can see about having the United Way help us on this day. Jenna would like to have blankets spread around on the gym floor for students and their parents to sit and look/read a book and eat a donut. Tara is looking into the price of donuts at Harmon’s.
Book Fair – Our Book Fair is Wednesday February 28th & Thursday February 29th. On the 28th the hours are 4-8pm and on the 29th the hours are 2-7pm. People who have signed up to help are: Josie, Tara, Nicole & Lorrie. We are hoping to have someone who speaks Spanish there to help also.
Parent/Teacher Conference Dinner – We will supply dinner for the Teachers on Wednesday, February 28th. The meal will consist of Soup, Rolls, Salad, Veggie Tray and Dessert. The Family Learning Center will decorate the Staff Break/Lunch Room. These are the food sign ups so far:
