3:45pm Motion to Begin: A motion was made at 3:47pm to begin meeting. It was seconded and approved.
Approve Previous SCC Minutes: SCC reviewed January’s minutes. Highlighted attendance issues to discuss. A motion was made to approve the minutes. It was seconded and approved.
Review Previous Priorities: Principal Ashbridge shared information about families that are concerned with bringing their children to school due to ICE and immigration issues. He shared that there are about 6 families that have indicated that this is a fear and that they worry about bringing their children to school and then something happening to them and their children don’t have a parent to come home to.
Present Copperview’s Current Progress Data: Principal Ashbridge and Ms. Guizar shared current Benchmark data at Copperview in comparison to last year. The overall trend is that Copperview is under performing this year on Acadience benchmark assessments. Ms. Dickey inquired on the reasons for this. Principal Ashbridge shared that there has been a change in staff, new curriculum usage and a greater focus on a balance of instruction. The school is balancing it’s time intervening on foundational skills while at the same time increasing the rigor in core instruction.
Write DRAFT of Next Year’s Land Trust/TSSP Goals: Principal Ashbridge proposed changing the focus of next year’s goals to be more aligned with what Copperview is being held accountable to for Comprehensive School Improvement.
- Grades K-3 will focus on 95% curriculum assessments.
- This will focus the school on foundational literacy while also focusing on teachers using the curriculum consistently.
- Grades 4-5 will focus on grade level standards using the RISE Benchmarks
- This will keep the rigor on what students should be know and be able to do by the end of the year.
- Math K-5 will focus on the new math curriculum assessments.
Prioritize Goal Action Steps with Resource Allocations: Ms. Dickey proposed that Principal Ashbridge have the goals, expenditures and action steps ready to go for the next SCC meeting and send them out ahead of time for review. Principal Ashbridge agreed and set that as a task for the next year.
Motion to end meeting: A motion was made to end the meeting at 5:46pm. It was seconded and approved.
