We are so grateful for her passion and commitment—congratulations, Ms. Vidaurre!

Check out what Ms. Vidaurre has to say about her teaching career and why it was clear she was selected!

I’ve been teaching for three years, starting in a small rural school in Hawaii. There, I taught 2nd grade and worked with students learning English from diverse backgrounds, including many from Micronesia. In 2023, I moved to Utah and knew I wanted to continue working with English language learners. When I saw a recruitment flyer for Copperview, I immediately knew it was the right place for me. Coming from a similar background as many of the students I teach today, I love being able to connect with them and support their learning in meaningful ways.

It’s been amazing to see students learn to read English right before my eyes! I love seeing how excited they are to learn and being a part of their adventure. Every day, I get to witness those “lightbulb moments” when things start to click, and honestly, there’s nothing better. As Rita Pierson said, “Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” I strive to be that champion for my students, and in return, they inspire me every single day.
