CSD Accepting Nominations for 2021 Apex Awards, the District’s Highest Honors

Through the long shadow of the pandemic also came shining slivers of light and grace.

The people who have inspired those sparkling moments — teachers, administrators, Education Support Professionals, counselors, volunteers, business partners, and more — did so even against the great operational, wellness, and morale challenges of the COVID-19 school year.  

Key contributions to CSD’s excellence, innovation, and achievement, especially as the Canyons community collectively navigated the era of the novel coronavirus, will be lauded with  2021 Apex Awards, the highest honors given by the Canyons Board of Education and Administration.

Canyons is now accepting nominations for the annual awards, which reward above-and-beyond efforts of employees and community supporters. Apex Awards have been presented in CSD each fall since 2010.

BRAINFUSE SUMMER LEARNING INCENTIVEBrainfuse Summer Learning Incentive Program has been created in partnership with the Salt Lake Country Library.

What is it:

  • Brainfuse is a virtual platform that can be accessed for free through the Salt Lake County Library where students can receive live, virtual tutoring on any subject
  • Through the summer learning incentive program, students who complete six 30-minute session can receive a $60 gift card at the end of the summer
  • This program’s goal is to incentivize students who have been disconnected from school to reengage in some academic content over the summer
  • Brianfuse hosts a Summer Skills Camp starting June 1 where students can access grade appropriate material and work through content with a live tutor
  • This program is for students who are 12-16 years old in Salt Lake County

How to sign up:

DO YOU NEED INTERNET?  Application started May 12 for a new federal program to provide emergency broadband relief.  Up to $50 discount each month.

On Tuesdays kids receive a hot meal and cold lunch for Wednesday. On Thursday kids receive a hot meal and a cold lunch for Friday and Monday.

All children, 18 years of age and under, are able to take advantage of the meals — not just Canyons students — and parents may pick up the meals without their children present.

2 – 5 Registration Begins – ALL students must register in Skyward each fall
16 – First Day of School Grades 1-5
19 – First Day of Kindergarten
